On December 5 th 2009 Kharkov has officially commissioned the newly reconstructed Metallist Stadium, which is to host the finals of the UEFA EURO 2012 European Football Championship. The stadium's total capacity is over 40,000 seats, including over 600 for journalists and commentators, over 400 for VIP guests, and 104 seats for persons with disabilities and individuals accompanying them. The budgetary cost of the stadium's reconstruction is estimated at UAH 562.9 million (UAH 7.984 / USD 1). The key investor in the Metalist Stadium, Oleksandr Yaroslavskiy, who is President of the Metalist FC, owner of the DCH Group and coordinator of Kharkiv's preparations for Euro-2012, spoke at the opening ceremony to the delight of many football fans in Ukraine and abroad. Ukraine and Poland, who are hosting the Euro 2012 Football Championship, now have two out of the eight stadiums required for the games in 2012, both in Ukraine.
